FuZe8 Dance Company hosted a Youth Dance Lab for dancers from the South West on Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 October at Twynham Dance Studios.
The dancers trained from 10-4pm with Ben Warbis, Associate choreographer for FuZe8. Ben led the technical repertoire and creative sessions each day working on classical and release based techniques, learning repertoire from professional works and having the opportunity to create their own work.
It was an inspirational two days and an amazing opportunity for the young people to develop their choreographic and performance skills, gain industry experience and network with other young dancers in the South West.
‘We know that children and young people’s participation in dance has significant reduced both in and outside school over recent years. This weekend provided opportunities for young people in the South West to access dance and the multitude of benefits it offers. The young dancers really pushed themselves developing their technique and performance and in turn helped raise their self-esteem, improved their feelings of confidence and self-belief through dance.’
