On Saturday 9 November FuZe8 worked with Associate Director Ben Warbis.
Ben focused on strengthening the dancers body through the use of Cunningham technique; emphasising clarity of form, coordination of torso and legwork, rhythmic accuracy, spatial awareness and virtuosity. The second part of the day explored approaches to choreography, and challenging the use of improvisation, imagery and use of rhythmic timing.
Benjamin graduated from London Studio Centre in 2009 with a First Class BA Hons Degree in Theatre Dance. He has spent the most part of his career with Michael Clark Company, with whom he has performed extensively across Europe, Australia, and America. He still performs with the company on a seasonal basis. Ben has choreographed curtain-raisers on behalf of Yorke Dance Project for FuZe8 Dance Company in collaboration with Arts University Bournemouth and Totton College, and has led CAT Scheme sessions in London, Birmingham, and Swindon. Ben is part of the teaching faculty at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance since May 2018, as a BA Contemporary Technique and Personal Tutor.
