Dance Lab 2019 with Artistic Director Ben Warbis

  On Saturday 9 November FuZe8 worked with Associate Director Ben Warbis. Ben focused on strengthening the dancers body through the use of Cunningham technique; emphasising clarity of form, coordination of torso and legwork, rhythmic accuracy, spatial awareness and virtuosity. The second part of the day explored approaches to choreography, and challenging the use of improvisation, imagery and use of rhythmic timing. Performing and volunteering at the New Forest Marathon – Sunday 9 September 2019

FuZe8 Youth Dance Company volunteered at the New Forest Marathon on Sunday 9 September 2019. The New Forest Marathon have an official charity (New Forest Marathon Community Fund) alongside the event where they donate money to groups for volunteering.  FuZe8 volunteered on the day to help raise money for the NF community fund. The dancers worked endlessly selling NFM merchanise items from 8am – 5pm! Alongside this, they performed their choreography ‘Symmetry of Nature’ in the Race village to runners and supporters. FuZe8 finished the day by leading the 1km race to encouraging future young runners aged 5 – 11yrs. […]

FuZe8 Dance Company provide a FREE after school Contemporary dance class for Twynham students Year 7, 8 & 9  Come and join Artistic director Nicola Lloyd on a Tuesday 3.30-4.30pm. FuZe8 Feeder class is designed to teach young dancers how to move in a creative, freeing and graceful way, while also transforming their posture and balance and improving their fitness. FuZe8 Feeder Class open Christchurch Primary Dance Festival 2019

FuZe8 Feeder class opened the Christchurch Primary Dance Festival at the Regent Centre on Wednesday 12 June 2019 with their piece:          ‘Drowning in Plastic’ (2019) Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution enter our oceans. This dance looks at the invasion of plastic, and the devastating effect it’s having on our world. ‘Invisible’ premiere (2019)

FuZe8 Youth Dance Company premiered ‘Invisible’ at two local dance performances in Bournemouth this week. Rock Challenge, Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth on Monday 11 March and Origins Youth Dance Platform, Pavilion Dance South West on Saturday 16 March 2019. The works were commissioned by Yorke Dance Project and D@win dance company and both evoked a social parable which can initially leave the audience with a sense of dislocation. Yorke Dance Project 2019

FuZe8 Youth Dance Company have been incredibly fortunate to have worked with Yorke Dance Project this term. The dancers completed three days of intensive training and choreographic workshops culminating in a curtain raiser performance for Yorke Dance Project’s 20th Anniversary tour at Pavilion Dance South West. The dancers worked with Laura Dredger from Yorke Dance Project and created a piece of choreography based on Kenneth Macmillan’s Playground (1979).
